I am an Integrative Psychotherapist, which means that rather than being guided by only one approach, I build my work around each of my clients as the unique people they are.
I believe that each of us already has the answers. It’s just that sometimes we need a helping hand to unearth them and appreciate our own wisdom and creativity. I work with individuals both short and long term, offering a safe, warm and confidential environment in which to explore their experience with interest and compassion
My work broadly falls into 3 categories:
Memory: When events, relationships or unfinished business from the past continue to dominate your present life in unhelpful ways. Sometimes distressing ‘symptoms’ such as anxiety and depression can be the result of our creativity in finding ways to avoid the emotional impact of difficult experiences from our past. Or you might recognise that your relationships keep following the same pattern and you want it to be different.
Mystery: You may be struggling to come to terms with something or have a less well formed sense of wanting to feel happier, calmer or that you are not fully yourself but without knowing how or why.
Mastery: To help you manage your stress, increase your coping strategies, recognise your needs and regulate your emotions. This can enable you to be better able to cope with your circumstances, or be in an improved frame of mind to decide what changes you need to make and how to make them.
Of course real people rarely fit into such neat boxes and so these labels are mainly a guide to help us both think about your goals. You might well want or need a blend of approaches
